Indoors, surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost or place seeds with soil inside a zip-lock style freezer bag. ... The seeds may germinate while in the fridge, if so remove individually and pot up 10mm deep. Then remove to warmth, 15-20°C for germination.

“Kousa” is apparently the Japanese word for dogwood. This species does, however, go by other names including Chinese dogwood, Japanese dogwood, Japanese flowering dogwood and Japanese strawberry tree.

Seeds: Collect fresh ripe red fruit in autumn and then soak them for several days in warm water to remove the fruit pulp from around the inner seed. Once the seed is clean by washing in a sieve, store it in a bag of slightly damp sand in the fridge as they need a cold spell before germination.

kousa has edible berries. The soft pulp is sweet with a similar flavour to a ripe persimmon but the presence of hard seeds that are well attached to the pulp can be inconvenient when eaten directly. The rind of the berries is usually discarded because it has a bitter taste, although it is edible.. . . . .364011236075!]0000000000000009783314145209!]
