Prefers filtered light to bright indirect light. Requires high humidity to be happy and are extremely sensitive to the cold. Keep moist over the warmer months, on the dryer side but not soggy or waterlogged. Reduce watering in the cooler months and check on soil frequently.
Alocasia Clypeolata or commonly known as Alocasia 'Green Shield' is a vigorous elephant ear cultivar ideal for large garden spaces. Its thick leaves are quite leathery and can stand up to heavy rains better than many Alocasia with thinner leaves.
Propagation of alocasia should be done in spring or early summer, when the plant is just coming out of dormancy from the winter. With a shovel, carefully dig around the plant and lift it out of the ground. Dig at least 12 inches (30 cm.) around the plant to avoid damaging the roots or the rhizomes themselves.
